Best Heated Blanket

So I bought this while house sitting in a house that was so cold at night it was unbearable even with a space heater and central heating. The house was framed with single pane aluminum windows and really no insulation whatsoever plus a horrible mattress. I ended up sleeping on an air mattress I brought just in case my fiancé and I needed it and boy did we ever. I bought a queen sized blue plush heated blanket for us to use. It worked very well. So well that when we came home, my fiancé wouldn’t let it go. We sleep separately due to my chronic back and neck pain plus we don’t have a big enough bed for the two of us. This is a very lightweight, thin but soft and plush blanket. The wires are not bothersome or prominent. I just had to try to find one that didn’t cling to pet hair and it wasn’t easy. Not to say it won’t get some hair on it but it’s just not sticking in the fibers like my last one did and there was nothing you could do about that.I was surprised at how light and thin this is but it was 32 last night and I kept it on three and it kept me nice and warm with only a light cotton sheeting over it.The only thing I’m not crazy about is the controller because it’s not lit except when you are setting it. As I checked off the stars, I realized it meets all the things I was looking for; good heat distribution, temperature control is great (it gets pretty hot on 2 so don’t go too high if you order one)! And, it’s very soft!!! I love it! It warms up quickly; and I find that out here in Florida, it’s nice to have an electric blanket on chilly nights in the fall and winter; no need to warm up the entire house (and ours is almost 2300 sq ft so that would certainly raise the bill; therefore…this blanket is also saving me money)! Heading in to my second winter season using this blanket. Other electric blankets and throws I bought in the past lasted for only a few months then they stopped working. This one is still working. Unfortunately, there are areas on the blanket that don’t heat up. But the ones that do, get nice and hot after about 10 minutes. Love using this blanket while sitting on the couch watching tv. I would give the blanket five stars if it weren’t for the set of instructions that come with it. The extensive list of do’s and don’ts leave me to wonder how quickly it will stop working. Instructions include, don’t ball it, don’t use it on a recliner, make sure it lies flat, don’t tuck it around your body and many others like it. On the plus side, the blanket itself is really plush, and the heating elements run throughout the blanket and I thought at the highest setting, very arm. Let’s start off by the softness of this blanket, Both sides of the blanket are MEGA soft! The weight is a little heavy but that’s what you want to make you feel all warm/fuzzy and cuddly. There’s a lot to like about this blanket. The wires aren’t very noticeable. It wears well. We love that the two sides have separate controls! There seem to be cool spots here and there now that we’ve washed it, but it’s still enough to keep us warm. When we read the paper that came with the blanket, it said that laying on top of the blanket wouldn’t feel very warm, that you had to be under the blanket. Strangely enough, that’s true. After buying another brand electric blanket- I will never buy anything but Biddeford again. Superior blankets. This one is a lighter weight than some of my others but still is a light soft fleece type feel. I was going to return it for a heavier one, but it’s soft and heats up really warm so ultimately the heavier fleece is not needed. A blanket that u can leave on your bed for winter or summer. I waited to review after using on several cold nights. Here are my thoughts. It’s super soft, super thin and wirey. As far as heating, I honestly cannot go above #1. Even on one I have to turn it off cause it gets really warm.I am a cold person. This is the third of third blankets on me. So, it works for me, but I can’t see using 2-5 on settings. It’s been a few years since I last dyed my hair (used splat with bleach and loved the vibrant new colors, and also loved the colors they faded to) but I didn’t want to mess with bleaching my hair so I tried the purple amethyst. First I bought blue then got scared I’d dye myself blue, so went with purple. I get cold easily, and my office likes to ramp up the AC during the day because of the outside humidity.One afternoon, I smelled something weird and noticed the warmth of my blanket fading. This blanket is adorable. The color is orange perfection. It’s pretty soft and the cord is decently long.However, it’s truly “throw blanket size”. I’m 5’1″ and I toss it over my lap while working. This throw and keep in mind it is a throw not a blanket it would fit over a single or twin bed and be adequate. The reason I say so far so good is I have had electric blankets before mostly Sunbeam ones and after a short. Of time maybe a year or even less the controller will give you an error code. And at that point they seem to be useless. Although you can use the blanket if you want without the electric part. So I have found that electric blankets do not seem to last that long I don’t know if it is built in that they screw up after a length of time. Only had it a week but works great so far–heats quickly and evenly, fits my twin bed fine, and the material is nice. My only wish: the digital control has 12 time settings (1-12 hours) and 10 heat settings. Each time you turn it off (or it turns off after the time), the control reverts to Heat setting = 1 and Timer setting = 8 hrs. I like to start at Heat = 10 and, typically, Timer = 2 hrs, so it would be more convenient if it would remember the prior settings instead of requiring me (in my case) to click On button, then the “+” button 9 times (it starts in with the control on Heat), then the Heat/Timer switch button, then the “-” button 6 times–17 button presses instead of just On as on my 10-year old defunct pad, although it only takes a few seconds to make the adjustment now that I’m ……Read More
