I have spent weeks researching robotic vacuums. After comparing and contrasting different models from big-name brands like iRobot, iLife, Eufy, etc, I figured this would be a good budget vacuum. I purchased this unit to replace a Roomba e6. Summary review – it is far superior.Many of the negative comments are true, but are in comparison to a $600+ Roomba. I was SO reluctant to try this technology, but a Cyber Monday deal made me finally take the leap, and I am so happy I did!!! After one mapping run, the vacuum had my whole downstairs mapped perfectly! I was very surprised at this give that we have a lot of square footage & rooms. It did take all day to map it though. 12/10/22 Update – So far it has been great. Johnson does occasionally succumb to dementia… Seems to get lost. Twice Johnson just stopped in the middle of the floor for no reason. App said it was “paused”. I attempted to restart which did not work and then selected to send him “home”. He did react to being sent home.. unfortunately he got lost and could not find home. All in all I am really enjoying this. I have cats… while you cannot see pet hair or dust on the floor it is definitely there… just look at the bottom of your feet. I own a Roomba to help with minor vacuuming around the house. It does a pretty good job of picking up small things from carpets, tiles, and laminated wood flooring, though it is not as perfect. One of the features we like is what iRobot, the Roomba’s maker, pioneered: the visual mapping of the cleaning areas so you can see what parts of the house it covered or did not cover. Roomba probably is THE market leader in robotic vacuums, and with that comes its high price tag. A Little Background: This review is coming from someone who works in the IT industry, so I’m very comfortable with technology. Features and settings that I say work great and are easy to setup may not come so easily to some. That said, I don’t have extensive experience with robotic vacuums. I have used the same ole Roomba 670 for the past few years and haven’t “upgraded” because, quite frankly, I was never really impressed with the technology. 1 month Update:So, I’ve owned this little robot (we named him “Rocky”) for 1 month now. A few observations:- The app is awesome. It gives you a notification when he starts up every day and you can watch him as he cleans the house. I’ve only noticed a couple bugs. First, when I was trying to show him off to some relatives over dinner one evening, I realized we had had the bedroom door closed that day so he didn’t clean our bedroom. Because we have a couple of very vulnerable people in our family I dismissed our former cleaning service when COVID came to town and never started them up again. I purchased this bot from Amazon on sale during the pre-Christmas sales. It replaced a cheaper robot, which failed miserably. Since we bought this in late November, which I suggest getting since it was newely half off its retail price of 600 (gotta love black Friday), I have only had to get out the old vacuum once. I was worried that we would have to get it out more than that to get under our cabinets in the kitchen, but that is luckily not a problem.
